Solar power is something that many people see as a technology that will be good in the future when the fossil fuels have run out and the equipment becomes cheaper. It is interesting that most people like to wait for a lot of other people to start using a product before they try it. Like any new product, there are innovators, who love new things and want to try the latest gadgets. They are likely to be among the first people to use environmentally friendly energy sources such as solar panels.

There are of course the bunch of people who are classed as environmentalists who want to try anything in order to reduce their negative impact on the environment, and they are likely to try this technology as well. A lot of people who design their own houses, which are built from scratch, tend to consider the environmental impact too. It is probably cheaper and more easy to fit into the design of a house, if solar panels are put in when the house is built. The cost also seems less of an issue when there are such other huge costs being generated at the same time.

It would be great if people could be encouraged to make this leap soon, and for solar energy to be more of a mainstream idea, but the way that new products work it can take a very long time, especially for something as large and expensive as this, to break into common use. While there is still an alternative energy source, people are likely to continue to use it, either out of lack of knowledge of other sources, lack of finance to invest in the equipment or lack of motivation to make the effort to change.

This is why solar power stations can be useful. Then people will see no difference and will in fact have no choice as to where their energy comes from. The problem is that the energy companies need to finance these buildings and with the cost of fuel increasing it is unlikely that they can afford to do that.

Quick Tip #1

Solar energy is best for countries that get a lot of sunlight. It can be a great source of electricity and help add to the current supply, providing a cheaper and renewable source that causes no pollution.

Quick Tip #2

In India it is possible for the country to be able to produce more energy from the sun than they would ever use. This is because they receive a huge amount of sunlight and their population is not massively in demand of electricity.
